To shattered insolvent
Lives as boldly turns
Unforgiving hatred
Into love in the heart of
The merciless.
Give Peace a chance
In thousands of languages
Cry out and
Speak the words
Loud and clear:
No more wars, no more
Tears, no more bombs!
No more children should moan
Over a fallen Mother's
Body in the market
And never more a Mother
Should hold in despair
A lifeless baby hit by stray
Shrapnel in dark
Moonless nights.
Give Peace a chance
In all corners of this upset Earth
For a new generation to grow
Together and be able to reach out
To each other over vast
Boundaries of every
Religion and culture
Mighty or small
With no news of horror
And not to be the news
As unmarked dead on
Countless killing fields.
Give Peace a chance
It is in everyone's hands now
To stop the reign of hatred
Blind and with no insight
Like an ancient monster let loose on
Humanity with a shoulder-
Held weapon or
With a machete in a
Frightened boy's
Hand to inflict wounds with
Closed wondering eyes of a
Child.
Like forceful armies with shiny new
Armor to harm innocent lives
With no person in mind just cold
Calculated targets
With no conscience or feeling for
The Dead or the injured crawling in fear
On dirty blood soaked soil.
Give Peace a chance
To bring hope to every village to
Every home.
It will come with great promise
As mankind pulls together
Unites in one gigantic soul and
Speaks the collective wish
For lasting Peace.
Then we all can greet the New Year
With cheerful celebration
Everywhere.
A better Year that will not
And should not
