Indian-American astronaut Sunita Williams has wound up her historic 194-day space sojourn with many feathers in her cap. Sunita Williams became the second woman of Indian origin after Kalpana Chawla to venture into space when the US shuttle Discovery, with seven astronauts onboard, blasted off on December 10, 2007. During her six-month stay, Sunita broke a few records, ran the Boston Marathon in space and witnessed India in "all its colours" and the "stunning" launch of PSLV. Sunita crossed another milestone, quite literally so, on April 16, 2007 when she completed her version of the Boston Marathon more than 330 km above Earth. During the space marathon she travelled around the world almost three times and was harnessed to a treadmill so she wouldn't float away. She finished, unofficially, in 4 hours, 23 minutes and 46 seconds as the station travelled over Russia. In pic: Sunita runs the Boston Marathon in space. (AP/NASA)

 

Sunita's return journey, after being threatened first by a bruise caused to the shuttle's body during lift off and then by a computer snag, is on track.
